My first time spending Christmas time in Berlin. German Christmas is too long. The 24th is Christmas eve (クリスマスイヴ), the 25th is the 1st Christmas (第一クリスマス) and the 26th is the 2nd Christmas (第二クリスマス) . The street is so quiet like ghost town, all shops are closed for 3 days (even grocery stores too!) except Turkish one. So I went to my friend's house for the Christmas dinner party. There were lots of traditional German food on the table, exciting! huuuge 5kg of Roast Goose (がちょう), Knoedel (じゃがいもとパンのお団子), Rotkohl(紫キャベツの煮物) + some Japanese Croquette, 名古屋の手羽先 and + more... Also many many many many delicious cakes, pudding and cookies ♡ ♡ ♡ GOOD FOOD always makes me so HAPPY :)

Phew. My first time eating roast goose. I really liked the stuffing and special sauce though.

I wrapped my homemade sesame dressing + apple jam for the presents.

I had a good time and it was nice to meet new funny friends in Berlin. I hope I didn't talk too much. I do that sometimes.

I hate Christmas but love baking cookies

Yesterday was Thursday, today is Friday and tomorrow is Saturday... Christmas Eve!? Wow time goes really fast. I think I hate Christmas Eve but I love baking cakes and cookies (●´∪`●) ♡

OH NOOOES. I stayed up all night baking these. I think I'm a baking addict.

TOO MANY PHOTOS...

Why I take too many photos?

Because I just want to make a story of my life. Life is too short you know there's little detail that catches your eye that you know you won't come across again tomorrow, and something is happening this right moment and you want to remember and muse over past memories sometimes right?

Okay so, times up! I've decided to sort out piles of piles of piles of my photos of bike events and my trips this summer. It seems to be happening a lot this year. I think I really need to write down my blog now otherwise I never will. So a catch up before I forget.

The sun is setting earlier. The air is dark and chilly. Woah it's already December! The end of a year. Ooooh typical Berliln grey winter comes... but one more big party is coming up to make me happy for my year conclusion! I need more girls to race for my photos. ( ´艸｀) 〜♡

Pioneers of the global fixed gear bike culture Keirin Cycle Culture Café and Rollapaluza come together for the first ever Rollapaluza roller-race in Berlin.

Keirin Cycle Culture Café:

Keirin Cycle Culture Café is recognized worldwide as the first ever "fixed gear shop" having first opened back in 2004 as a hangout for their messenger mates (all members of Keirin and Rollapaluza are ex-couriers), selling them coffee, bikes and parts and mending their bikes. Rollapaluza:

The first Rollapaluza roller race was held in a pub in London in 2000 and Rollpaluza involves two riders racing over 500 metres on custom built static roller-rigs with their progress displayed on a huge dial and their times recorded by split-second digital timing, all to the backdrop of cheering crowds and pumping music.

Yes, Miss October from Nagoya just arrived in Berlin today for one month late.

SOO GOOD to see my friend visiting me from thousands of miles away. This is my 1st time to have my bike friend from my hometown Nagoya, you know I already cannot wait to ride a bike and hang out with her in Berlin. WOO HOO!

Please come out and say hi/konnichiwa to my friend Maki-chan at Keirin Cycle Culture Café on Saturday, tomorrow. I want you to meet and introduce her to you all nice people in Berlin. My winter bike

Almost winter. Not even going to tell you how much I'm scared having winter time in Berlin. I used to live in one block away from the beach and it was always sunny and never snow. My hometown is also pretty mild winter, it snows only a few days a year. My first time to survive in the minus 25℃ cold country, so yes, I just bought my new bicycle today as my winter bike. 40€, not bad. It looks pretty retro chic and the old one that was made in east Germany. Lovely.

A bit nervous... but yes. I do live in Berlin so, any excuse to riding a bicycle on the snow and love with beautiful winter here. Let's see if I will love it.

Yay finally, I am on the "I Love Riding in the city" in the newest issue #25 of Urban Velo. It's just very simple, a lil about myself and thoughts of riding bicycle through my experiences.

I was also featured in the issue #24 for the photo gallery of my crazy backpacking trip around India in August of 2010. I traveled with my best friends from Fukuoka as far north as the himalayan mountains to Manali, ganges river to Rishikesh, Chandigarh, Jaipur and New Delhi. The temperature ranged from the high 20 to 40℃. Surrounded by cattle, bicycles and images of Shiva. I slipped on cow shit many times everyday and ate curry three times a day until I got diarrhea and went to see crazy Indian Circus, etc... I would like to share it with you through my photos what I saw in India.

インドの旅はかなりCrazyでやばかった。毎日がギャグだった。毎日３食カレーでおなかこわした。一日に何回も牛の糞を踏んですべった。インドのサーカスもやばかった。また行きたいなー ♥ ネパールも行きたいなー ♥

Only in Dreams

I was in Japan 3 days ago staying there only for 10 days and now I'm here in Berlin. I just had my big goodbye party 2 month ago in Nagoya, I still feel weird and it seems like only in dreams. I was extremely lucky enough to be in Japan this time. My grandpa got well now even the doctor said he has only 2 days left. But yes, he can leave hospital today, what a super おじいちゃん！Thanks grandpa, I could even see my old friends who I wanted to see for a long long long time and one person who I expected to never seeing again anymore. Good times!

My friend Circles took me to a wondrous bike race, SSJ. It's incredible that I had only short stay in Japan and still could go camping and make my CharRie's Coffee at Circles' booth! I had so much fun to be there with my awesome friends.

OK. YES. It's about time to update my blog now. Yesterday was the 2nd month anniversary of my Berlin life. I've got a lot of rad stuff to update but........... what a lazy guuuurl huh?

So I would like to announce that I will have my coffee bike at Keirin Cycle Culture Café, this coming WEDNESDAY, MAY 11th for just a few hours. Please note it on your calendar, my coffee-bike will be there only around 15:00 - 18:00.

I am sooo lucky enough to have my friends own amazing bike shop here in Berlin. They are always welcome to have my coffee bike at their shop!! Thank you very much to Keirin Berlin for having one crazy Japanese girl stealing your customers!! ;p

ついに！CharRie's Café がベルリンデビューしました。

My Coffee Bike "CharRie's Café" debuted in Berlin last month. It was very quick! only after a few weeks I moved to Berlin. It was the perfect timing I arrived here. I got a chance to carry out my coffee-bike at VELOBerlin, one of the biggest bicycle exhibition in Berlin. Thanks a lot to Keirin Cycle Culture Café, they made my day and put me up with my coffee-bike at their booth for 2 days. I really enjoyed making lots of my fresh hand brewed coffee on my bike café. I was very happy to see so many people LOVED my coffee. I was also selling Japanese flag designed bags for donations to be sent to Japan. Very impressed, so many people donated to help Japan ♥ Thank you ♥ The exhibition was fun as well. Lots of cool bikes and live music set up played by bicycles.

Okay, so this blog has been stopped for a while since I left Japan, but right now today is the 1st month anniversary of my Berlin life. So I say good-bye to my lazy days and try to catch up my latest stories of Coffee + Bicycle in Berlin. You know what? I am free now ♥

ベルリンに来て今日で１ヶ月がたちました。この１ヶ月、いろいろなイベントや出来事がありました。でもわたしのベルリン時間はのんびりと過ぎています。ベルリンは街角や通りの半分以上はカフェだらけです。わたしの住んでいる街 Kreuzberg にはチェーン店のコーヒーショップはなく、ベルリンの街の自由な感じや個性あふれるすてきなカフェがたくさんあって毎日わくわくしてます♥ 「ベルリンのカフェスタイル」の本を片手に、毎日２軒ずつカフェめぐりしてはいろんな inspiration を受けてます。なんと、この本の著者はベルリン在住で先日友達になった子の知り合いだったのです。いつかお会いしてみたいなあ ♥ ♥ ♥　あ、あと先週末から憧れの焙煎コーヒー屋さんで働く予定だったけど、前々日にキャンセルされちゃった。やっぱりまずはドイツ語勉強しなさい！ってことだょね：）Tschüs!

A getaway, moving to Berlin.

NUTS! NAGOYA TWEED RIDE 2011

This was my last event I organized in Nagoya before I leave Japan.

Our first annual Nagoya Tweed Ride was held on February 19. We are not sure but it seems like any other city in all of Japan don't do Tweed Run. We always like to do different things and need to feel different kinds of cycling culture from the world. So we decided that we needed a Tweed Run but not just as a part of fashion show bike run, we also wanted to understand the English cycling tradition with the London Tweed Run respect.

I worried how many people would be interested in, we didn't have enough announcement and it was hard to find 19th century tweed clothing here in Nagoya. I was surprised and impressed that we had turn out of over 50 participates dressed up in their tweed outfits. We took place at night and had about 2 hours group riding in Nagoya city. We could appeal some cars in traffics that cars occupied road now but the road was originally made for a bicycle first not for a car so we dressed up back in century and rode for respecting people at that time.

There was also a Best Mustache Contest at the after party but not everyone could have real facial hair, you know we are Japanese. GOOD TIMES, GOOD EXPERIENCE.

今週末11月27日(土)は、私の地元半田市のまちおこしイベント『ろじうら』に出店します。

ろじうらとは？
細い路地のあるノスタルジックまち並みと、そこにある暮らし。
まちにたくさんのアーティストたちをちりばめて、いつもと違ったチャーミングなまちの一面を発見する、1日だけのおまつりです。
毎年冬のはじめの開催とし、今回、第一回目を迎えます。

〈場　所〉亀崎の商店や空き家を会場に、アート作品やモノ作り、ライブやワークショップ等を町のあちこちで開催します。

Nobeyama Cyclocross Race

Nobeyama Cyclocross Race, the first single Speed championship in Japan sponsored by Rapha and IF Japan was held on October 30- 31, halloween. The race course was in the middle of Takizawa Pasture in the Nobeyama highlands.　The big typhoon was moving around this area and heavy rain the past week helped to get very muddy and greasy course. Some racers got dressed up in halIoween costume and everyone looked having so much fun with shiny muddy face. I wasn't in the race but I really enjoyed making my special hand brewed coffee on my bicycle there :)

The race course got filled up with people cheering and ringing out "cowbell" was awesome. It was my first time to see real cyclocross race. I've only seen the race in the film or FSCX (Free Style Cyclo Xross) in Nagoya. I got excited to see everything, cows and vegetables were in the middle of the course, the racers riding in greasy muddy pit and slipped off the bike...

Shinobu from Nagoya (Miss July - Love wheels Nagoya calendar) got 3rd place got gold cowbell trophy, yes!

This Rapha's special made "cowbell" was sold and all the profits will be contributed for the players who participate in the world championship.

This is Rapha's "COFFEE + MUD + CHOCOLATE" T-shirts, all the profits will also help the players to world championhip expedition expense.

The cyclocross race is awesome! It is not only categorized as just a cyclocross racer to participate in, there were some roadies, MTBers... I got to see some messengers from kyoto, nagoya, tokyo... even nagoya girls are not real cyclocross racers but they had so much fun to get muddy face.

The Nobeyama Cyclocross Race will be an internationl race in 2011 and will be carried out UCI registration. Looking forward to see more international racers.

Bang King Track Race 2010

I went to compete in the Keirin Race at the Uchinada Velodrome in Kanazawa City for the annual Bang King Track Race on August 28 - 29. The event is organized by Daisy Messenger Nagoya and sponsored by Circles.

This event tends to be casual and light-hearted even though many race to win. Me and my friends dressed up as cheer leaders to cheer everybody and got in the Keirin Race. It was my third time this year and there were more girls than last year.

Many of the Nagoya cyclists were in attendance as well as cyclists from around Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Kanazawa local...etc) The race is rather laid back and friendly, this is a weekend of racing, riding and BBQ event, but most of all a great excuse for cyclist to get together and have fun. It is easy to make lots of new cool bike friends from all over Japan especially at the BBQ party.:D

Nagoya cyclists drink and get crazy the most and can beat up other cities at the BBQ party but on the Velodrome, Tokyo messengers are always cool and take the top 3 at the most race evey year... :-(

Everybody sleeps together like a school trip.:D

It was amaging seeing that some of the girls were the first time to ride a fixed gear bike until the day. Even the first time to wear a helmet & tight fit, the drop handle bars are required and the breaks are not allowed but they had no fear, all girls enjoyed riding and being in the Keirin Race.

I got my special weapon GIANT. This is super light and fast! I even felt like I could finally be on my dream podium for the first time this year but all race I was in, I got the 4 th place, weeeeeeeeee... I hate daily practice and never do it.:-(

It is said that participation is more significant than winning at the Bang-King track race. Right? ;-)

I can't to wait to go back and try to get on the podium again next year!

I had a Burnout Syndrome... I finally got up myself to write about my bike journey to Europe. Sorry,this is kind of old stuff and already passed a few months but I still want to post & share this now otherwise I never will. Europe just melted my heart too bad XD I got a burnout...

I love traveling with my bicycle. I took my coffee bike and went to Leeds and Budapest in May. This was my 1st time being to Europe and there were some big reasons I went there.

♥Reason 1: Meeting my best friend Monika in Leeds. It's been years to see her; I first met her in Kyoto, Japan and became best friend through the bicycle.

Here are some photos I developed of my trip to Leeds. I was there for only 3 days but had a good time to ride around the city with some friends. Thanks to Monika + Marek and fixed gear leeds crew!

♥Reason 2: Meeting Linda - Candy Cranks author from Budapest. Wowww! Candy Cranks is the great tool to make cool bike friends all over the globe!! I'd never met Linda but we are now really good friends!! Viva Candy Cranks!!

Thanks a lot to Linda to make my trip so much fun, helped me out, put me up and showe me an awesome time!! Hungarian people are so nice and kind. I love Budapest!! (and Gosser Lemon beer!)

♥Reason 3: ECMC (European Cycle Messenger Championships) in Budapest. I am not a messenger but I like to hangout with them and watching the messenger race. They are pretty tough and hardcore cyclist. I love their life style and crazy parties!

♥Reason 4: CharRie's Café
I brought my original coffee beans and all my coffee bike stuff in huge freight baggage backpack from Japan. (It was super heavy to bring them all! :() I was a bit nervous to doing my coffee bike at ECMC for 3 days by myself because I had no friend, only a few Japanese around this event. I knew only Linda and Sinya (organizer of ECMC) and I wasn't sure if European would love my Japanese coffee... but I had a confidence to make people to love my coffee so Linda was in love♥ yay!

Many people stopped by my bike café, having my coffee and happy talks...♥ It inspired me a lot!! I didn't charge for my coffee but everyone tipped me good. Thank you!

♥Reason 5: Cheering my messenger friend Izuru from Naogya. He came with his wife and 2 years old son. It was their late honeymoon as they said. Sweet♥

♥Reason 6: Sightseeing in Budapest. We had a group riding all day long. Riding and hanging out the city by bicycle is the best way to see, feel and smell the local. Too many beautiful castles in Budapest!! I felt like I was in Disneyland! :D

LANGOS tastes sooo good! (especially when you get drunk at midnight like mexican burrito)

Needless to say, traveling with a bike and meeing some bike friends across the ocean are always great. Even if we don't wee each other, we can still have a good friendship through the bicycle. Bicycle unites people all over the world.

It took a lot of courage for me to do my coffee bike in my 1st time being in Europe and 1st time doing my coffee bike out of Japan. The bigger try is, the more worth it has.

yay! im here at the bottom of himalayan mountains!!

delhi was really hot and dirty. so good to be in the mountain! manali is about 26c, its nice and a little chilly here. we can see snow peaked himalayan mountains!! the air tastes really guuuuudo!

im gong to ganges river in rishikesh tomorrow morning takes about 2 days by bus and trains. pretty exciting!!!!!

Circles did great job! The frame is all hand painted by Shinya (owner of Circles), I asked him very complicated flower patterns. Shinyadid amazing job on hand paintwork and matching all parts to be dressed up. He shows his excellent taste in customized bike from his experience of learning and working at fashion industry for many years.

This is my 1st new customized bike♥ My 1st bike is very old NISHIKI from San Diego and I didn't expect that I was going to be a pedal freak until I met Circles bike shop in Nagoya. Cirlces helps to define what cycling is and leading the way in showing people how to have fun on two wheels and find on your way to open up of new world. Shinya said that "You can do anything on your bike." That's true. So I do my CharRie's cafe there.

So, my next target is to win and be on the podium at the Bang King Track Race coming up in August this summer!

I met my best friend Nikon sometimes around 2008, I started shooting the photos of girls on bikes just for fun as my self satisfaction, didn’t know about flickr and any bike websites. One day, I was in a street Keirin race event “Bank-King” sponsored by Circles in Nagoya, I met Yohei, the photographer/editor of a magazine, he said “where can I find your photos you’ve taken?” and I was like “NO WHERE!” then he told me about flickr and I started meeting many people who is fascinating to me all over the world. The bikes and photos unite people and they inspire me a lot.

So, now I’m able to share of my photos through websites like Candy Cranks, Flickr and anywhere. And yeah, I’m going to be bold to say, I’m in a magazine! It’s COG, yay! I would say COG is more like photographic collection, not like magazine, all photos are very artistic and high quality. I wrote the article about the back stage of Love Wheels Nagoya Calendar and some of my photos are in a page of the all girl's alleycat race, THE NADESHIKO CUP (CMWC Tokyo.) It reminds me the greatest time of CMWC 2009 in Tokyo.

Tour de Kyoto - 180km Ride from Nagoya

On May 2nd and 3rd, we had the Love Wheels Nagoya Calendar Girls Ride to Kyoto city from Nagoya. It’s only 45 minutes on the Bullet train, but we rode 180km for 15 hours in one day. We got started pretty early 5:00am, expected to get into trouble in case. We’ve got road bike, MTB, single-speed, city-bike and I was the only one got on a fixed gear bike!:D We all girls were not experts in long distance ride and had no idea what awaited us…

We got a special guest to join this ride, Jess from Candy Cranks author in Tokyo! We were getting pumped at ばってん (Japanese bar) for the long distance ride next day.

Started 5:00am. We got 8 girls, 3 body gurards (Crankee, Justin, Keisuke) and 3 Circles crew (supported us until their bike shop opens at noon.)

Thanks Kinu (Miss April) and KAz (Miss February) for organizing the Kyoto ride!

KAz made this cog with acrylic resin for everyone as a good-luck charm for the riding.

Kampaaaaaai★ Arrived in Kyoto at 9pm. This is the greatest moment of the long ride:)

I am so HAPPY that we all made it 180 km riding with no injury!! Mika-chan was almost retired, but she made it with us! There were so many dramas we made. It was great to see the Love Wheel Nagoya Calendar Girls are patient and tough.

This is the longest riding in one day. I am glad that I made it with my fixed gear so I feel like I can go anywhere I want with my bike from now on, but I still have sore my legs now...

Gacharinco! ｰ Bicycle Dance Team Nagoya

Hello! We are Gacharinco!, the 1st fixed gear bicycle dance team in Japan.
On October 11 2009, Gacharinco! made the virgin performance at the Toyota Rock Festival in Nagoya.

Gacharinco! is the imitative sound in Japanese, the clipless pedals lock to the cleats when stepped in.

We were just dreaming of having fun with dancing and bicycle together! Our members are 14 girls (include 1 guy) made in miracle collaboration with real sexy dancers Panthers and fixie bike riders NUTS! Girls.

We ride on country rock and make sexy & cute moves. We love dots & stripes and chose red & white colors as Japanese flag. Red/white is also traditionally used as congratulation colors in Japan.

Our 2nd show was at NO CAR BIKE ONLY rave event NUTS!FES. on October 24th. We got everyone into our stage and dancing together. It was blast!

Hope to see ya in the street someday! Keep your eyes open and get ready for your tires pumped!

I feel like spring has come here.

We're getting more girls riders challenging the race this year, yaaay!:D Thats amazing, these girls are not real racers, it is great to see them riding on ditches, steep slopes, deep mud and carring their bike with pretty muddy faces. It was pouring rain the night before race, some places got very muddy and slippy, we all could expect something would happen in this race.

My Bike Journey to Melburn

I've been lazy and just finished sorting out my great memories of bike trip to Australia. I miss the weather back thereee, it is snowing here in Nagoya today, awwwww! so I would like to share some pics of my holidays to keep warm here like the sumer time...

Riding in Melbourne is great. It's really flat and everything is close together so it is easy to ride around.

I went to see my friends there. I met these lovely messengers at CMWC Tokyo.

The funniest guys in Melbourne! Gotta see Brian & Lane if you are ever around there. They know how to throw a party. It is really great to have cool friends all over the world.

Melbourne was over 37℃, I was just about sit down in the shade of a tree... then 2 guys on bikes came up and said "Are you Brian's friend?" I was like "Yeees..." Mmmm, I recognized him by his dread locks hair from CMWC tokyo. We didn't know each other, he is from Dublin and Im from Nagoya but we start getting some drinks and became friends. It was just an accident that we met in Melbourne but it happens when you ride a bicycle!

Hello mate! I went to travel around Sydney & Melbourne with my best friend Nikon & NISHIKI for my new years holidays. It is summer time there, Gotta Go now!

My biggest reason to come out to Sydney was...

"MEET THE MEG!" :)

As you can expect through the Candy Cranks blog, Meg is one of the greatest and nicest people you ever meet! I met Meg at CMWC Tokyo and became great friends. I didn't know anyone in Sydney but thanks Meg! Candy Cranks screwed up my courage to make a lot of new friends in Sydney and all over the globe!

Meg and her partner are so kind and took me a lot of cool places. They've got their own work space for bikes hidden the back stage of the Sydney Theater Company, looks soo sick! I was riding my bike on the stage as an actress in front of NO audience, hehe... :) (Rie in Sydney by Meg)

Nagoya girls organized the NUTS alley cat race this time as Valentine's special. We made check point easier than usual for any girls can win and hid some funny & weird questions related to LOVE. (e.g. what would you say when you propose to your girl friend? / What’s the name of love hotel in your sight?)

Last check point: You must put make-up on (lipstick & cheeks) and make kiss-mark with your name on it.

After the race, NUTS! girls wore mama's apron themed like a sweet home and had chocolate party at local café in Nagoya. KAz (Miss February: Love Wheels Calendar) is very crazy about chocolate, she just wanted to play with chocolate and bicycle together, that’s it.

Chocolate track stand contest: Each girl took turns for hanging a chocolate bar for a guy on track stand to eat it all.
